At ZeoT Zürich, we believe bellydance is more than movement—it's a transformational journey. This year's show, ALCHEMY, on June the 14th 2025, is an artistic exploration of change, both chemical and emotional, inspired by the processes of transformation found in chemistry. From the bubbling of ideas to the burning away of the past, ALCHEMY invites you into a world where movement becomes magic.
Here in Zürich, we bring together dancers from all walks of life—expats, locals, professionals, and beginners—who all share one thing: a desire to express themselves through the empowering language of bellydance.
Below, we explore four key processes of alchemy and chemistry, each one reflecting a dancer’s path of self-discovery, change, and growth.
Combustion – The Fire of Transformation
In chemistry, combustion is the release of energy through burning. In dance, it’s the moment passion takes over. The ignition point. The spark that lights up the room when a dancer fully inhabits her body and story.
In our show, combustion is reflected in fiery drum solos, the 5 elements in Chinese dance, and bold improvisations. You’ll see students and professionals burning bright, releasing their energy with joy and confidence.
Distillation – The Essence of Self
Distillation is the process of separating and purifying—a perfect metaphor for the way dancers strip away doubt and find their essence.
Through regular practice, feedback, and self-reflection, dancers at ZeoT refine their style. What remains is pure expression, distilled through sweat, dedication, and artistry.
In the show, you’ll notice solo performances that carry the unique scent and signature of each dancer—a result of this slow, beautiful purification.
Sublimation – Rising Above
In chemistry, sublimation is the magical shift from solid to gas—skipping the liquid phase altogether. In dance, it's that ethereal moment when someone who once doubted herself floats across the stage with ease and grace.
Sublimation represents transcendence: dancers transforming nerves into presence, shyness into radiance. It’s where movement becomes poetry.
Expect to see veil dances, flowing group pieces, and emotionally moving moments that capture this lifting, lightening magic.
Catalysis – The Power of Connection
A catalyst speeds up a reaction without being consumed. At ZeoT, community is our catalyst. From rehearsals to costume swaps, from shy hellos to shared laughter in class—connection changes everything.
In ALCHEMY, the group choreographies are a testament to how we lift each other up. We transform not just as individuals, but together.
